Book Review: Seven Spheres by Rufus Opus

Something a little different today, a review of an excellent book on practical Hermetic magic that I have been using for the past 18 months.

Watch my full review here:

Seven Spheres by Rufus Opus is a distillation of the classical Hermetic scholarly works of Henry Cornelius Agrippa & Trithemius.

It is also useful in explaining Hermetic cosmology drawing on The Divine Poemandres and To Asclepius tracts from the Corpus Hermeticum.

Seven Spheres collates all of the necessary planetary correspondences from Agrippa’s The Books of Occult Philosophy and Crowley’s 777 so you can see at a glance what incense or attire is needed for such and such a rite on such and such a day.

Step by step guides to carrying out the practical tasks, including banishing, consecrating, blessing, conjuration, recitation, contemplation and closeout.

Not for the feint-hearted

Be warned though, this is NOT a road to be going down without research, respect, reverence, and clear intentions.

The risk of losing the thread of Eleusis is very real.

The instructions are so clear, it’s difficult to go wrong which means that you need to be prepared for the consequences of your actions & interactions.

From my experience, slow and steady wins the race when wondering in these parts for the first time.

Have clear intentions.

Show respect.

Don’t be a dick.
